Thanksgiving is a day that I always look forward to every single year. This year we are hosting again and my relatives are in town to celebrate with us – the usual gang were here, my uncle TJ, Daniel Lim (SlashGear’s associate editor), Aki Ukita (SlashGear Japan’s editor), my sisters, and good ol George. For Lunch we had Thai food from where my sister works. She brought food that was not on her restaurant’s menu; so not quite your typical Thai food.

For dinner, we had roast beef, pearl onions with cream gravy and crispy bacon, my fav dish green bean casserole, roast potato, pasta salad, and fresh greens. Desserts hits our tummy afterward – Banana’s foster, rum chocolate cake, fresh coconut drinks (Daniel shows his hidden skills in cracking those young coconut), and ice cream.

I was quite happy with our Thanksgiving celebration; sadly I was hit by cold late in the day and apparently my wife catch it from me too. I’m going to have a good rest tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Woke up this morning looking for a new TV for my bedroom and found out Woot has Westinghouse 37” 1080p HDTV for $569.99. It’s not a bad deal and I can actually use this for my secondary monitor – hooking it up to my MacBook Pro. It sports resolution of 1920 x 1080 and it’s pretty thin for an LCD TV at 4.7-inch. Waiting for the “Wife” approval before I hit the Buy it button!

Belkin Slim-Fit is on the top of the list. It has slim profile design and features shock-absorbent padding (which is good if I dropped it on the hard concrete). It’s top aligned with the iPhone speaker, so if you are in a noisy place, your iPhone 3G’s ring will be quite loud compared to those cases with closed top (covering the iPhone speaker).

Marware is no stranger to iPhone cases, and they make very well designed. Their C.E.O Premiere for iPhone 3G cases is my second choice but still worth the consideration; it comes with free screen protector and microfiber cleaning cloth. The leather-constructed case allows access to headphone port and easy phone removal due to its bottom notch.

Marware C.E.O Flip Vue reminds me of my old Compaq Aero PDA’s case. It flips open and allows you to use the iPhone 3G screen without pulling the iPhone off the case. Pretty convenient and its rotatable clip is a nice touch. The perforated leather and contrast stitching really makes this case look extremely attractive. I do wish the clip would be a little smaller and thinner.

Incipio alphaPouch Lycra Slim is my last option. I like simplicity and this case offers it. It is also slim like the Belkin Slim-Fit and Griffin Elan Holster, and cost the least (only $14.95). It might protect your phone from scractes, but I’m not sure it’s padded enough to give dropped protection.

We don’t need to look on deeper depths to realize what this freedom can do to us. Just try to consider every election that are about to come and those that had already gone to past. Surely, the candidate with the most attractive banner, the most commercial appearance, and the candidate who reporters would proclaim to have helped the nation or their place in one way or another would surely take their reign.

You could say; “so what?” Yes, for some this effect of the media to election may seem to be a simple issue that should be brushed off the shoulder. But why not use a more critical eye towards the issue? I would say that this influence rob us the power to see clearly each candidate’s capability and power to run the position hence we loss the change to choose the deserving candidate according to our conscience.

I’m not against media. In fact, I am grateful for their hard work and dedication of giving us fresh news everyday. They would also exhaust all means just let us see the real fact behind the issue. There are a lot of media men that had been killed just because they had been faithful to their job of unveiling controversies, promoting the truth, and permitting the citizen to take part in every happenings that would concerns them.

But media doesn’t only concern their reporters rather media also embraces the commercials that politicians do to campaign and the ad that they place on the street. This is what really corrupts the thinking of every person. Who would vote someone they hardly see the name on colorful banners placed along the town? Of course, the rich politicians are only those that can afford to print multicolored banners and display them.

What about the less fortunate but deserving individual? With this, the voting public must take the initiative to research by themselves about the candidate’s personal background and clearly see if they are capable enough on the said position. Remember that it is your vote so no one should dictate what you want to write on your ballot. If you want to see progress then you can help the government by placing people worthy of the position. Those people who have the heart to serve, responsible and most specially, those people that would not use the position for personal interest. Yes, media really have an effect on election but above all, it is you who have the ability to resist the effect or to succumb on it and give them your right choose freely who to place in the office.

Aside from boil crab, Satsuki and I prepared our specialty pizzas; the Shrimp Scampi Alfredo pizza and Pesto Crab Pizza. We also made pepperoni pizza because my sister Effie hates seafood (What a picky eater).

We played PSP, Wii, and PS3 games and then dive into dessert. Aki made cheesecake this time and it was good, but my favorite is still the fruit tart cheese cake Daniel brought.

So all and all, we had a blast and I am still enjoying the food and wine while I’m writing this entry. If you don’t get what I’m writing on this post, I’m truly sorry as I probably still a little drunk :)

So what does my wife cook for my sister to take to school for lunch? Well, many things really, I’m going to post her lunch box creation from time to time. So here is the first batch of her lunch box.

After the meal, we went to the park to light up some fireworks, it was fun aside from the fact that we were feeding the mosquitoes. I hope next year it w’ont be a rainy day on 4th of July so we can do a better cookout and camping.
